Ilham Aliyev: Baku supports signing of peace treaty with Yerevan

Azerbaijan supports the signing of a peace treaty with Armenia, on the basis of the five previously proposed principles, including the mutual recognition of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states. This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with the chairman of the parliamentary Assembly of OSCE Margaret Sedurfelt on Tuesday in Baku.

The President recalled that it was the official Baku after the end of the 44-day war that came up with the initiative to normalize relations and signing a peace treaty with Yerevan. “The next stages of the negotiation process were negotiations on the text of a peace treaty at the level of foreign ministers in Washington, as well as my meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia in Brussels. The meetings also discussed the opening of transport and communication lines,” Aliyev said.

The head of state noted that the initiative of the unification of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia on one platform and the creation of an integrated model of the South Caucasus was nominated by the official Baku.

President Ilham Aliyev said that large -scale recovery and construction work continues on the territories of the country’s territories.

The Chairman of the OSCE PA, for his part, said that, as part of a visit to Azerbaijan, he would visit the Zangilalan district, where he will get acquainted with the processes of restoration of territories.
