Ilham Aliyev: France, India and Greece arm Armenia against Azerbaijan

President Ilham Aliyev said that France, India and Greece are arming Armenia against Azerbaijan.

“We cannot just sit back. We clearly brought this position to the Armenia and the parties that are trying to take care of Armenia today. If we see a serious threat to ourselves, we will have to take serious measures,” Aliyev said 23 April in a speech at the International Forum on the topic “SOR29 and green vision for Azerbaijan”, organized at the University of Hell.

The president said that now there is a general understanding of how a peace agreement should look.

“We only need to work out the details. However, of course, both parties need time,” the head of state noted.

According to him, they are “closer to solving the issue than ever before.”

“During the occupation, we were very far from this. At that time, we could not even agree on basic principles,” the president emphasized.

Aliyev recalled that then an agreement was not reached even according to the Madrid principles, adding that at that time there was not even a draft peace agreement.

Aliyev also affected relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“The unity of Turkey and Azerbaijan is an important criterion for regional security and stability. The convergence of Turkey with Armenia and the normalization of Azerbaijani relations with Armenia should go in parallel. This is our position, as well as the position of the President of Turkey,” the head of state emphasized.
