From the first hours of the Second Karabakh war, the leadership of Turkey and its people stood shoulder to shoulder with Azerbaijan.
This was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during a speech on July 21 at the Shushinsky global media forum on the topic “New Media in the era of the 4th industrial revolution.”
According to him, the statement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the first hours of the Karabakh war that “Azerbaijan was not alone”

“We felt this moral support from our brothers all 44 days. President Erdogan several times publicly announced the position of Turkey, and other representatives of the state also expressed their opinion on this issue. It became a great moral and political support for us,” said the Azerbaijani leader.
The Head of State said that after the victory of Azerbaijan in the Second Karabakh war, Baku and Ankara de facto issued existing relations, and raised them to the level of allies, signing the famous Shushinsky declaration.
“This is a great achievement and great property for our peoples and countries. This declaration opens up new horizons before us,” Aliyev said, emphasizing the significance of the Shushinsky declaration.
