Ilham Aliyev: Millions of Azerbaijanis in world are deprived of opportunity to learn in their native language

The Turkic world consists not only of independent Turkic states, its geographical borders are wider. I believe that the time has come on an ongoing basis within the organization to keep in the spotlight such issues as protecting the rights, security, and the national identity of our compatriots living outside the countries of the organization of Turkic states, and the prevention of their assimilation. This, in particular, said President Ilham Aliyev, speaking at the second summit of the organization of Turkic states.

The head of state noted that the young generation in the Turkic world should be able to receive education in their native language in the schools of countries where they live. Unfortunately, most of the 40 million Azerbaijanis living outside Azerbaijan are deprived of this opportunity.

“Our compatriots living outside the Turkic states should receive education in their native language. The necessary steps should be taken in this direction. Azerbaijani state pays special attention to ensuring the rights and freedoms, security of Azerbaijanis living abroad. We will continue To make efforts so that the Azerbaijanis living outside the homeland retain their language, traditions and culture, are faithful ideas of Azerbaijanism and never broke their relations with the historical homeland, ”said the President of Azerbaijan.
