The airport in Zangilan (East Zangezur region) will be put into operation in 2022, the railway to the border with Armenia will be laid in 2023, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said.
Aliyev, commenting on the course of work on the liberated territories of Azerbaijan (in Karabakh and East Zangezure) noted that in 2022, work on the construction of infrastructure will continue, and the construction of residential buildings for internally displaced persons will begin.
In 2022, 5 hydroelectric power plants will be built on the liberated territories. The construction of the village of Ageals will also be completed and it will allow the first former displaced land to be returned to the native land, “Aliyev said on Wednesday at the youth forum in Baku, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Youth Day .
The President stressed that the airport in the city of Zangilan will be put into operation in 2022, the railway to the border with Armenia (Zangezur Corridor – IF) will be laid in 2023, the construction of a road will be held.
“Currently, various agricultural projects are also implemented on the liberated territories. I can say that this year it is planned to sow on an area of 40-50 thousand hectares. This will contribute to the provision of our food security,” added Aliyev.
