Immunologist Sai Reddie: “In 2022 it will be even more difficult to fight Covid-19”

Immunologist’s scientist, Professor of the Federal Polytechnic School of Zurich (Eth Zurich) Sai Reddi warned about the emergence of new variants of coronavirus infection, which, having a high level of contagious, will be able to avoid antibodies on them. This is reported by TASS with reference to the SONNTAGSBLICK newspaper.

According to him, the mutations of the strains of “beta”, “Gamma” and “Delta” are inevitable. He noted that it could significantly complicate the fight against the pandemic in the next 2022.

Reddi explained that Beta strain, which was discovered in August 2020 in South Africa, and a strain “Gamma”, who first revealed in Brazil in September, “developed mutations, thanks to which the effects of antibodies could be partially avoided. / P>

According to the specialist, “beta” and “gamma” will become more infectious, and Delta will develop the ability to avoid exposure to antibodies. “If such a coronavirus version appears, then we must detect it as soon as possible, and the creators of vaccines will have to quickly adapt them,” the Reddi warned.

The scientist added that the new coronavirus infection settled among people for a long time. “It’s likely that it will last years, and perhaps before the end of our life,” he said. He added that “Delta” -variant is so strong that any unvaccinated person in contact with it can become a “super-accelerator” of infection.
