The Chairman of the Great National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmush, sharply criticized the report on Turkey for 2023-2024, adopted by the General Assembly of the European Parliament.
The speaker of the parliament called the document to complete unreasonable accusations against the institutions and foreign policy of Turkey, as well as the “functioning of democracy” in the country.
According to him, the report “is far from contributing to the constructive dialogue and the general vision of the future.”
Kurtulmush noted that the report is a “reflection of established prejudices and political bias in relation to Turkey.”
“Relations between Turkey and the EU need a sequential approach based on mutual trust and common interests. May 9, on the day of Europe, we expect from Europe to commit the values that it defends, and attach great importance to the general struggle with growing discrimination, xenophobia, ourselves, ourselves and double standards on the European continent,” said. Speaker.
He noted that the Turkish parliament expects that “EP will act on the basis of responsibility and realities and will open the space for dialogue and steps in cooperation that will make a positive contribution to the relations of Turkey and the EU.”
