In Baku held a forum dedicated to International Day of Monuments and Historical Places

On April 18, a forum dedicated to the International Day of Monuments and Historical Places was held at the International Mugam Center.

The event was organized by civil service for the protection, development and restoration of cultural heritage and the Azerbaijani National Committee of IComos. The forum was attended by the head of the civil service for the protection, development and restoration of the cultural heritage of Azad Jafarli, Vice-President of İcomos Zeynab Gul Unal, Chairman of the Union of Architects Elbai Gasimzade and Cultureologists.

Head of the civil service Azad Jafarli in his speech spoke about the importance of the celebration of this day: “Yesterday we, together with the vice-president of İcomos, Zeynab Gul Unal visited Agdam, saw the destruction that occurred as a result of the occupation, but at the same time became witnesses of the new reality, constructive works of our state. “

İomos Vice President Zeynab Gul Unal said in detail about the activities of the structure submitted by it: “The International Council for Conservation of Monuments and Attractions (İcomos) is an organization working in the field of cultural heritage protection, restoration of historical monuments, and is also an advisory structure UNESCO for issues of material and cultural heritage. ” She greeted the creation of the Azerbaijani National Committee of İcomos, wished organizing success in work.

Chairman of the Union of Architects Elbai Gasimzade spoke about the peculiarities of monuments in the country. He noted that the recovery process on the liberated territories requires a long time: “Armenians destroyed such a city as Agdam. We have very important tasks. We need time, people and means.”

The forum continued its work with panel discussions on the topics “İcomos and the material and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan of world importance”, “Experience restoring and conservation of monuments in Azerbaijan” and “Protection of cultural heritage in emergency situations.”
