In the Baku court on serious crimes, a meeting was held in a criminal case against Agil Babaev, who, imposing himself as “12 Imama”, made fraud on an especially large scale.

According to Haqqin.az’s own correspondent, Agil Babaev was taken to the courtroom accompanied by a convoy. The victims sitting in the courtroom began to curse him and swear. Out -bloodwheat abuse stopped only after the judges entered the hall.

Anar Aslanov was interrogated as the first victim, who stated that Agil Babaev promised him intercession on Judgment Day and deceived 585 thousand manat.

The victim added that he is an educated person and graduated from two faculties of Baku State University – legal and international relations. According to him, for the first time he met Agil Babaev in December 2004.

“I participated in the religious events that were held at his house. At these events, we talked about Islam and Sharia. Agil Babaev assured us that one of the conditions in Islam is” Zakat “. In 2006, he publicly declared that Allah endowed him with a special gift, ”said the victim.

According to Aslanov, in total, he handed over to Agil Babaev 585 thousand manat. The realization that he was deceived came to Aslanov only in 2021.

“I began to demand from Agil Babaev to return the money. He said that I would take it from him at home, where I went late at night. I took a bag from him, in which there were 525 thousand manats. Only then I saw that in There was also gold bag. But I then returned gold through Vugar, ”the victim said.

The next court meeting is scheduled for August 30.

According to the indictment, Agil Babaev, calling himself the 12th Imam Mehdi, from 2007 to 2020, abusing the trust of the inhabitants of Baku, appropriated a significant amount of money. He collected money from them for allegedly charitable goals. At the “religious” meetings organized by him, Babaev said that he was sent to the earth with divine force in order to do good and help people with financial difficulties, emphasized how important it is to believe in it in order to avoid torment of the afterlife and gain paradise. Babaev knew how to convince people – they paid him monthly. He assured that the money collected is allegedly distributed to those in need and poor, houses are being built on them for members of the families of the shahids and disabled warfare.

The damage caused to the victims amounted to 2 million 500 thousand manat. The accused Agil Babaev said that he was innocent of charges. The trial will continue on August 23.
