Europe and the United States should tighten the sanctions against Russia. With such a statement in an interview with the Funke media group, Manfred Weber, head of the European People’s Party – the leading fraction of the European Parliament, reports RIA Novosti.
According to politician, the intended movement of troops to the border of Ukraine is a test for the West.
According to the head of the European People’s Party, the sanctions should be tightened in the event of an escalation of the situation in the East of Ukraine. In particular, Weber proposed to resort to large-scale freezing of Russian business accounts, as well as disable Russia from the SWIFT payment system.
