In the Mexican state of Guanahuato, as a result of a fire in a rehabilitation center, 12 people died, at least 3 people were injured. This was reported by local authorities.
According to official figures, the fire occurred in the city of San Jose Iturbida, in the center where people with drug addiction underwent treatment. The reasons for the fire have not yet been established, the investigation has begun.
Local media notes that many private rehabilitation centers in the country work without proper supervision, experience a lack of funding and often become a place of cruel treatment of patients.
In high crime conditions, such institutions also often become a target for attacks. Guanahuato is known for a high level of violence, including in connection with the confrontation between two influential criminal groups – a new generation of Halisco and Santa de Lima.
