In the Mexican state of Verakrus, 209 illegal migrants were found in the back of the abandoned truck.
According to the Mexican National Institute of Migration (Inm), the incident occurred on the Villaiermos-Koatsakoakos highway in the provincial city of Nuevo-Theapa.
The security forces heard screams and cries coming from the body and were able to save migrants, immigrants from Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador and Honduras.
At the same time, 23 migrants, including young children, were hospitalized with complaints of thirst and lack of oxygen.
In 2022, when trying to illegally cross the border from the United States, 2.75 million migrants were detained.
According to the Mexican authorities, 8.76 million migrants without documents live in the country.
Hundreds of migrants who leave their countries because of such problems as violence, unemployment and poverty in their countries and seek to get into the USA in search of a better life, often fall into the hands of people’s traders.
For many years, many illegal migrants from Central America have been trying to get to the United States through Guatemala and Mexico.
