In the Mexican city of Syudad-Huarez, located on the border with the United States, the remains of 383 people were discovered in one of the crematoriums. According to the authorities, the institution served six funeral bureaus.
According to the information of the Chiuaua prosecutor’s office, the verification was carried out after an anonymous call. During the search, not only hundreds of bodies were found in the crematorium building, but also other fragments of the remains. According to preliminary data, some of them have been stored for 3-4 years.
The state prosecutor Cesar Haugraeni noted that the number of bodies causes serious doubts that the institution really provided cremation services. “All these people were held a funeral. Who knows what the real goal of these people was,” he said.
According to local media, the crematorium had all the necessary licenses, but it violated the prescribed working conditions. The institution was closed, and its owner and one employee were detained.
Governor of the state of Maru Kampos called the institution employees “irresponsible and heartless people who abused their licenses and permits.”
The authorities continue to investigate the reasons for the storage of such a number of bodies in the building, serving several funeral bureaus in the city at once.
