In Moscow, they are confident: Russian economy will withstand new sanctions

The Russian economy will endure US sanctions if they are introduced, said Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov in an interview with RBC.

“In general, we will withstand those restrictions that are discussed today, but I think that it should not come true,” said Siluanov.

As noted by the Russian minister, in any situation, when foreign states take sanctions against Russia, the task of fiscal policy is to minimize the influence of these restrictions on the country’s economy and the welfare of Russians. The state must fulfill all its obligations to citizens regardless of sanctions, the minister stressed.

According to Siluanov, Russia has already created a seat in the form of a national welfare fund, and this will help protect the country’s economy from sanctions.
