In National Security Agency Bulgaria found Russian spies

Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Bulgaria began investigating on the State National Security Agency (Dance) on suspicion of the agency staff in favor of Russian special services.

Employees of the specialized prosecutor’s office held a raid in Dance in the capital of Sofia. According to sources, employees of counterintelligence also participated in the raid. According to the BNT agency, the operation was directed against the staff of Dance itself, which are suspected of espionage in favor of Russian special services operating in Bulgaria. The BTA Agency also reports that the relevant information was transferred to the prosecutor’s office by the Agency himself. That is why employees of counterintelligence participated in the raid, who had to investigate on their own colleagues.

Later, the prime minister Cyril Petkov said that “a large Russian agent diaspora”, operating in different directions, was formed in Bulgaria. “There are even Russian agents who purposefully obstructed the achievement of mutual understanding between Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia,” added Petkov, indicating as a reason that, in this case, Russian interests did not coincide with the prospects for the European Future for the Western Balkan region.
