At the island of Sado in the Niigat Prefecture in the north-west of Japan, an earthquake occurred magnitude 6.
According to the Japanese meteorological agency (JMA), the underground tremors were recorded at 17:59 local time at a depth of 10 km.
Tsunami warning was not received.
Earthquake was felt throughout the niigata, as well as in the prefectures of the Yamagate, Toyama, Nagano and Ishikava.
