Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Maria Butina spoke about blocking the online encyclopedia “Wikipedia”. In an interview with URA.RU, she stated that the issue of banning the resource was discussed at the commission to investigate the facts of foreign intervention in the internal affairs of Russia.
“such a issue has already been raised and will continue to be considered in detail,” the deputy noted. According to Butina, the number of inaccurate information on Wikipedia has reached a critical mass, while in search engines the resource materials are issued as priority.
The deputy emphasized that it is necessary to take measures in relation to the online encyclopedia so that reliable sources of information are priority in search results on the Internet. “I will consult with colleagues to investigate the facts and we will make a consolidated decision,” she concluded.
