The Sweden government restores the civilian call, said the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristerson at a press conference on Monday.
“On Thursday, the Government will give the Department of Protection of the Population (MSB) to prepare the activation of public service in Sweden. We are returning to the situation where we have a civilian call service,” he said.
According to the Minister of Civil Defense of Karl-Oscar Bulin, at the first stage we are talking about sending persons with relevant skills to the municipal rescue services for the civil service there. According to preliminary estimates, the number of this group will be about 3 thousand people. “How many people will be covered by this civil duty, we do not yet know. We believe that today the utility utility services do not meet the requirements that are presented at a high level of readiness, and especially with an armed attack. Ukraine’s experience is obvious: when it is necessary to defend The civilian population, the rescue service is under very large pressure, ”he said.
“Activation of the compulsory civil service” should be ready by March 1. In parallel with this, work is underway to recreate it on a larger scale. Called by the civil service will undergo additional training on the conduct of rescue actions in military conditions, Bulin said.
