In Turkey in 2023, 750 archaeological excavations and research were planned

This year, 750 archaeological excavations and research is planned in Turkey this year. This was reported in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic.

According to the agency, among others, research will be conducted in the province of Konya in order to identify settlements of the Neolithic period.

In addition, the ruins of the ancient city of Sobesos in the province of Nevchekhir are of particular interest among archaeologists. Studies in this city were previously interrupted and resumed this year.

Excavations and restoration work will be carried out in the provinces: Denizli (ancient cities of Laodica and Tripolis), Antalya (ancient cities of Olympus, Patara, Perc and Side), Mugla (ancient cities of Euros, Brushdos and Stratonikia, as well as Bechin fortress), Mersin (Fortress Silifke) and others

Almost all of 240 excavations with the participation of Turkish and foreign scientists started in July.

In this case, 144 objects of historical and cultural heritage are subject to restoration.

The budget of 200 million Turkish lires is allocated for archaeological research.
