In the Turkish province of Nevchekhir, the Cappadokia cycle festival, which opened with a high race at a distance of 111 kilometers, started.
52 athletes from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia came to the start in the Urgyup area. The race passes along the roads open for the control of police and gendarmerie.
The route includes travel through settlements such as Ortakhisar and Gorem, as well as the villages of Chavushin, Karajauren, Akkyyo, Bashtere, Shahinefendi, Tashkynpash and Dzhemil, after which the participants return to the finish line in Urgyup.
The organizer of the festival Aydin Ayhan Gunya informed the Anadola correspondent that the geographical relief of Cappadocia is ideal for cycling.
He emphasized that the purpose of the first day is to spend the race on a long highway, demonstrating the beauty of the region without blocking the movement.
“On the second day of the festival, the main race will begin. This will be the first race in Turkey with a similar concept: by off -road and in mountainous conditions. We are sure that in the future the number of participants will increase significantly,” he added.
The festival will end on June 15 by the award ceremony after the Gravel and E-Gravel races, which will pass along the 50-kilometer route.
