Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia after reports on the creation of the Uzbek volunteer battalion, whose participants intend to go to Ukraine, warned of criminal liability for such actions.

Diplomats promised that all participants in the volunteer battalion would bring criminal liability to criminal liability. “The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation warns compatriots against the creation of volunteer battalions and / or participation in hostilities in the territory of foreign states for which criminal liability is established,” the statement of the diplomatic mission said.

The Agency for External Labor Migration of Uzbekistan also recommended citizens of the country not to follow such calls to participate in hostilities. The department recalled that in Uzbekistan, mercenaries, as in Russia, are prohibited by law. According to Art. 154 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan about mercenaries, participation in hostilities in the territory of another state or on its side is punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years. The punishment threatens those who are not a citizen or serviceman of the country who is in the conflict, or does not live constantly on its territory. At the same time, Dzhalolov indicated that he was a citizen of Russia.
