India: put an experiment to mix vaccine from Covid-19

Doctors in the near future will begin checking the safety, immunogenicity and the effectiveness of the mixed composition of several vaccines from coronavirus.

According to the Tuesday newspaper The Times of India, the tests will be used using three vaccines approved in India – the Russian “Satellite V”, Covishield of the British-Swedish company Astrazeneca and Covaxin of the Indian company Bharat Biotech. In the future, they may be supplemented by new drugs from COVID-19.

Earlier in the UK and Spain, experiments were carried out, which showed that mixing vaccines Pfizer and Astrazeneca can be safe and immunogenic. “This is possible from a scientific point of view, which is especially important to accelerate vaccination in India. However, the use of mixed composition of vaccines is now not permitted by the Protocol operating in the country, which required research to confirm its effectiveness,” the publication of representatives of Indian medical circles quotes.

Checking the effectiveness of mixing vaccines approved the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI). The experiment will begin in the near future and will last three months. It will be held by the Government of India in collaboration with vaccine manufacturers.
