Inflation in United States has reached maximum since 1981

Inflation in the USA in May in annual terms amounted to 8.6%, which became the maximum value since December 1981, Meduza reports.

The increase in prices for the month was 1%. This significantly exceeded the forecasts of analysts, which expected that it would not exceed 0.7%.

It is noted that the main factor affecting the overall level of inflation is energy prices – for the year they went up by 50.3%, over the last month – by 4.5%. Prices for food for a month and year increased by 1.2% and 10.1%, respectively.
