The press secretary of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Said Hatibzade demanded that Belgium immediately release the Iranian diplomat Assadolla Assadi, who was in prison, reports IRNA.
“Unfortunately, today we are once again observing the lies of Assadi, a diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was fabricated by Western media,” said the representative of the press service, commenting on the media reports after the verdict of the court of appeal.
Hatibzade added that, as mentioned earlier, all stages of detention, trial and a court decision regarding Asadi are a gross violation of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic rights. According to him, Iran has already officially stated the protest of Austria, Germany and Belgium and repeatedly rejected the accusations against Asadi, demanded his immediate liberation.
The diplomat emphasized that, along with diplomatic measures, Iran is actively dealing with this issue on legal channels, and the European parties involved in the question of Asadi were called to the answer: “In addition to its immediate release, we will insist on compensation, rehabilitation and obligation Do not repeat such actions. “
Asadi, who served as the third secretary of the Iranian Embassy in Austria, was arrested in Germany in 2018 and extruded to Belgium. He is accused of planning a terrorist attack during a meeting in France.
