Iran disvented from participation of his athletes in Hankendi

“Iran did not take part in combined martial arts competitions, which were held in the Azerbaijani city of Hankendi.” This is stated in the statement of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Azerbaijan.

In the diploma, they noted that some persons who introduced by Iranian citizens participated in a combat sambo tournament on December 28, 2021 in the city of Hankendi of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“We want to note that this type of martial arts is prohibited in Iran due to signs of violence, as well as cooperation with bookmakers. Therefore, there are no federations of these sports in Iran. Those who are engaged in them are underground and illegal activities,” – The Embassy says.

The representation also stated that the participants in the competition did not have anything in common with the Ministry of Sports of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Embassy once again emphasizes that there is no connection between the participation of these persons in illegal competitions in Hankendi and the Policy of the Ministry of Sports and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the IRI diplomatic representation.
