Iran does not plan to send ambassador to Sweden in response to burning of Qur’an

Iran does not plan to send ambassadors to Sweden against the backdrop of the burning of the Qur’an in this Scandinavian country.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Iran Hossein Amir Abdolkhiyan on Twitter.

“Despite the end of administrative procedures, the process of sending the ambassador to Sweden has currently been stopped in connection with the actions of the government of this country, allowing the Coran Holy Book,” the Foreign Minister wrote.

Iranian diplomat Khujatulla Fegani was appointed new Iran’s ambassador in Stockholm, replacing Ahmed Masumifer at the post.

Earlier, the Sweden police allowed activists to hold a protest on Wednesday near the largest Stockholm mosque. One of the participants in the procession – a 37 -year -old native of Iraq – burned several pages of the Qur’an in front of the mosque. This caused indignation in the Muslim world. The Iraqi authorities demanded that the Sweden government give out an immigrant that burned the pages of the Koran.
