Iran Foreign Ministry: January 1, Iran’s membership began officially in BRICS

The official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nasseri Kenani said that today the country’s membership began in the BRICS. According to him, Tehran attaches great importance to the multilateral approach.

Kenani held a press conference in the capital of Iran Tehran.

Regarding the beginning of Iran’s membership in Brix, Kenani said that his country was accepted into Brix in the framework of the previously signed agreement. The official membership of the country in the organization begins on January 1, 2024.

He noted that Brix has acquired a new significance in an international equation with the participation of new members, adding that Iran attaches great importance to multilaterality and uses opportunities within this framework.

Speaking of Iranian-Armenian and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the spokesman added that Iran always supported the development of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Kenani recalled that his country was opened by the Consulate General in the Armenian city of Kafan as part of the previously signed bilateral agreements. The Armenian side can also open its Consulate General in Tabriz.

Foreign Minister Iran Hussein Amir Abdullahiyan on December 27, 2023 stated that Armenia would open the consulate in Tabriz in the first weeks of the New Year.

– Spanish citizen Sanchez is released
