Iran: journalists who were writing about death of Mahsa were accused of state

Iran’s authorities accused two journalists who were the first to write about the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, in the state treason and work for the US intelligence services. According to Iranian laws, the death penalty may threaten them. This is reported by Radio Liberty.

journalist Nilufar Hamedy and Elae Mohammadi were arrested shortly after the death of Amini and the beginning of mass protests. Presumably, they are kept in Evin prison.

Iran’s special services published a joint statement, which call journalists to the CIA agents. The statement also states that the protests held in the country for more than a month have been organized by the CIA, Mossad and other Western intelligence.

In general, after the start of protests in Iran, more than 40 journalists were arrested, Radio Liberty notes. Journalists who remained at large informed the British The Guardian about constant surveillance of the press, listening to their phones and monitoring the correspondence by special services.
