Iran released Oscar-winning actress detained due to protests

Iran released the famous actress Taran Alidity three weeks after she was detained for criticizing the suppression of anti -government protests, Iranian media reports.

ISNA agency reported that Taran of Alidost, the 38-year-old star of the Oscar-winning film by Asgar Farhadi “Communist Party”, was released on bail. No details about her case are reported.

Alidness was among several Iranian celebrities who expressed support for protests in Iri and criticized their brutal suppression by the authorities. She published at least three messages in support of the protests on Instagram before her account was disabled.

The actress and previously criticized the Iranian government and his police. In June 2020, she was sentenced to five months of imprisonment conditionally after she criticized the Iranian police on Twitter in 2018 for an attack on a woman who shot a hijab.
