According to information, the agency inspectors were examined by the Potato Party of 118.4 tons delivered from Iran. During the inspection, samples were taken, which entered the laboratory of the Institute of Food Security. According to the results of analyzes in the potato batch, a potentially dangerous quarantine pest was identified (PHTHORIMAEA OPERCULELLA) – Potato Moth Caterpillars.

It is noted that such pests can completely destroy the harvest both on the field and in warehouses for two to three weeks.

According to the law, if a pest is revealed in any batch of products, it must be destroyed or to carry out disinfective events. Despite this, with a re-examination of warehouses, employees of the agency found that infected potatoes already went on sale.
