Iran is ready to take part in the construction of a new transit road to Georgia through Armenia, said Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Iran Hairoll Hydra.
“Armenia plans to create a new transit route from Iran to Georgia. We are ready to participate in the construction of this road,” – quotes Hyda Agency ILNA.
Iranian official argues that “we are talking about a new corridor, in addition to the road, alternative highway Goris – Kafan, on which the parties also reached the agreement.”
Hylde said that there is a route connecting the province of East Azerbaijan with Yerevan. About 21 kilometers of this road is part of Azerbaijan, added Deputy Minister. According to him, “Azerbaijani side for passing this short plot, on which only one checkpoint charges road fees”: “It is necessary to create an alternative route as soon as possible so that the path is no longer passed through the territory of Azerbaijan.”
