Iranian President Again Urged Citizens Of Country To Save Electricity

Iranian President Masud Ceseshkin again urged citizens of the country to save electricity. He stated this, speaking at the international conference on renewable energy sources.

Cyzeshkin noted the efforts made to solve energy problems that caused interruptions in power supply in the country. He emphasized that Tehran intends to focus on the development of renewable energy sources.

“We must reduce the use of fossil fuel and strive to switch to pure energy,” the president said.

He also indicated that one of the reasons for the energy crisis in the country is excessive consumption.

“According to available data, we consume six times more electricity than many European countries. If the population provides more support, we will be able to change the situation,” he added.

The president separately touched on the problem of unreasonably low tariffs for electricity:

“The pricing policy should change. When the electricity is provided for free, its value is not realized. If we want to become a developed country, we need to use solar energy more actively,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a number of state institutions in Tehran, water supply was disconnected after detecting excessive water consumption.

Despite the fact that Iran has one of the world’s largest oil and natural gas reserves, in recent months the country has been faced with an acute energy crisis. Its causes were economic sanctions, insufficient investments in infrastructure and rapidly growing demand for energy resources.

, in the context of increasing energy deficiency, energy conservation measures are spreading in the country. The problem is especially acute in the summer months, when increased consumption is associated with the use of air conditioners. The authorities regularly call the population to the more rational use of resources.
