Iraq-Sturge Agreement On Oil Pipeline Expires In 2026

The validity of the Agreement on the Iraq-Sturge oil pipeline and the related agreements and protocols expires on July 27, 2026.

The corresponding decree of the President of Turkey is published in the “Official Herald”.

The oil pipeline was built as part of the Agreement on the oil pipeline signed between the Turkish Republic and the Republic of Iraq on August 27, 1973, for the transportation of raw oil mined at Iraq.

The first line was commissioned in 1976.

In 2010, Türkiye and Iraq signed an agreement on the resumption and extension of the Agreement on the oil pipeline and the relevant protocols for 15 years.
