The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Abdulkadir Uralogllah stated that the Istanbula airport again became the most busy airport in Europe with an average number of flights 1553 per day, and the Air Harbor of the Antalya took 10th place in the same list with an average number of flights 996 per day.
In his written statement, Minister Uraloglu commented on a report on European Aviation Review, published by the European Air Navigation Security Organization (EuroControl) on July 3.
According to the report covering the period from June 23 to 29, Turkey took 6th place among countries with the highest volume of transportation in Europe with an average of 3,992 flights per day, leaving behind countries such as Greece, Netherlands and Poland.
According to the minister, Türkiye became not only a transit country, but also the regional and global center of air transport. The average number of daily flights in Turkey increased by 15 percent compared to the period to the outbreak of Covid-19.
Uralogl emphasized that Türkiye, demonstrating constant growth, is one of the 6 countries in the first ten, which can reach a level that existed before Covid-19.
“Istanbul airport again became the most loaded airport in Europe with an average of 1553 daily flights. Istanbulsky airport was ahead of the Parisian Charles de Goll, Airports of Frankfurt and London Khitrov. In the same list, Antalya Airport took 10th place with an average of 996 daily flights,-he wrote.
Abdulkadir Uralogl also noted that Istanbul airport from June 23 to 29 took 7th place in the world among 25 global airports with an average of 773 daily departures.
