Istanbul Peace Negotiations – Representatives Of Ukraine, Germany, Italy And Britain Met In Istanbul

In Istanbul, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sergey Kislitsa and adviser to the head of the presidential office, Alexander Bevz, met with representatives of European partners of Ukraine – Germany, Italy and Great Britain.

This was announced by the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Georgy Tikhiy on the social network x.

According to him, the parties agreed on the position on the eve of today’s meeting between the delegations of Turkey, the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

“Members of the Ukrainian delegation confirmed the commitment of Ukraine with peaceful efforts. They examined in more detail the points of the agenda, including the meeting of leaders, a complete ceasefire and humanitarian measures to strengthen trust,” the report said.

Istanbul peace negotiations

Türkiye, which in May gathered delegations of the Russian Federation and Ukraine at the same table three years later, on June 2, organizes negotiations in Istanbul.

The Russian delegation is represented by the assistant to the president Vladimir Medinsky. The Ukrainian side is headed by the Minister of Defense Rustem Umarov. The meeting will be held in a closed format.

The Russian delegation is ready to transfer its memorandum to Ukrainian and give the “necessary explanations” on it. The Ukrainian side is expected to insist on the ceasefire and will raise the question of the meeting at the level of leaders on the agenda.

The first round of negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine took place on May 16 in the residence of Dolmabakhche in Istanbul. It is expected that the second round of negotiations between the conflicting parties will be held on June 2 at 13.00 (Turkish time) in the Palace of Chyragan.

According to the results of the first meeting, the parties agreed to conduct a large -scale exchange of prisoners according to the formula “1000 by 1000”, to imagine in detail their views on a possible ceasefire, and then continue negotiations.

Kyiv and Moscow reported that the exchange of prisoners, agreed in Istanbul, was completed on May 25.
