Ukrainian troops almost surrounded the city of Liman in the Donetsk region and in the near future they can take a large grouping of Russian troops into the “cauldron”, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) says.
Now the Armed Forces are located in the West, North and North-East from the estuary and have already taken under fire control the only line of communication of the Russian troops, which passes through the village of Torskoye. Experts predict that the loss of estuary will become extremely severe for the Russian army and will jeopardize previously captured with great losses of Lisichansk and Severodonetsk.
Ukrainian forces are already fighting southeast from the village of Kolodezi and on the outskirts of Torsky, which is located from the estuary of only 12 km. Also, the Armed Forces of Ukraine broke through the Russian fortification near Yampol and conduct an offensive in the Torsky area also from the southwest.
“The fall of the Limansky” Karman “will probably have very serious consequences for the Russian group in the north of the Donetsk region and in the west of Lugansk,” warn İSW analysts. At the same time, they note that the Russian military leadership could not create an information background for a quick defeat in the estuary.
“The Ministry of Defense of Russia did not talk about the latest Russian losses in the Liman area and was not ready to fall in this sector of the front, which would probably worsen the already low moral spirit,” experts say.
