Italy confirmed: we do not want Russian gas, but not against hub in Turkey

Rome plans to completely abandon Russian gas were confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tayani, Russian media reports.

The politician added that the Italian authorities do not oppose the creation of a gas hub in Turkey. The government noted that they halved the share of Russian gas in the import of natural gas. Deliveries from Russia provided up to 40% of all the needs of Italy in energy resources.

“Italy would like to become an energy hub for all of Europe. We decided not to use Russian gas, but no problem with Turkey,” Tayani said.
