Italy will be able to abandon Russian gas after a year and a half, said Minister of Countries on the Environmental Transition of Roberto Gengolani in an interview with La Stampa newspaper.
According to him, compared to other countries, Italy has an advantage, she has five gas pipelines. “We strengthen the southern and eastern routes, there are agreements with Algeria. Next week and in the coming days we will go to other countries, especially the African region, and we expect to achieve about two thirds of what we need in the coming weeks,” said Minister
He noted that it would not be possible to organize instantly deliveries, but by the second half of next year, Italy will be able to come to independence from Russian gas.
