Japan asks citizens to save electricity

The Japanese government asked the residents of Tokyo and its environs to reduce electricity consumption, BBC News reports.

According to the report, this request is due to the fact that energy supplies will be limited due to abnormal heat in the country. People were asked to turn off unnecessary light and still use air conditioners to avoid a thermal blow.

Earlier, Japanese officials have already warned about the interruptions in electricity due to the heat. It is expected to reduce energy supply by 3.7%, which can lead to interruptions if there is an increase in demand.

Although electricity suppliers are working on increasing supplies, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan said that the situation is “unpredictable” due to an increase in temperature.
