Japan mulling to prevent Russia’s actions in Arctic

Japan should prevent Russia’s actions in the Arctic, writes the Nihon Keizai edition.

Analyzing the current situation, journalists stated that Tokyo must intervene and not give Moscow to embody their intention and build the rules of shipping on the Northern Sea Route favorable for it. At the same time, in the article, the line of behavior of Russia described as “aggressive.”

The authors emphasize that Moscow has no right to “privatize” the Northern Sea Route. They call on Japan’s authorities to take a more active position in the region. “The world should strive for the establishment of such a rule of law on the Arctic expanses, which would have answered the legitimate interests of both coastal states lying in the Arctic Ocean and the users of the sea routes,” concluded in the publication.
