Japanese spacecraft “Slim” came out orbit of moon

Slim Lunar Landing Module, owned by the Japanese agency of aerospace research (JAXA), entered the lunar orbit, JAXA reported.

Smart landing module for the study of the moon “Slim”, which is also called the “Moon Sniper”, successfully entered the lunar orbit at the beginning of the week.

The change in the orbit passed according to the plan and the state of the apparatus stably,- the agency noted.

landing on the surface of the natural Earth satellite is scheduled for January 20.

The first Japanese lunar landing module Slim was launched into space using the H-IIA launch vehicle from the Tangasim Space Center in the Japanese Prefecture of Kagosime at the end of September.

JAXA reported that the SLIM module is expected to provide an “unprecedentedly high -precision landing” on the moon.

The weight of the Mitsubishi Electric landing module is 700 kg, the height is 2.4 meters and the width is 2.7 meters.

SLIM will be able to move on the surface of the moon using a spherical shape with a slightly larger tennis ball.

Observations and data on the Moon received by Japan will be used for the Artemis program, carried out under the leadership of the United States.
