Joint exercises of United States and Australia are suspended due to collapse of helicopter

Joint military exercises of the United States and Australia were temporarily stopped after the crash of the Australian Army helicopter.

Australian Minister of Defense Richard Marles said that the MRH-90 Taipan type belonging to the Australian Army, which participated in joint exercises with the United States, crashed at night near the Hamilton Island.

The search for four members of the helicopter crew continues.

According to the minister, the wreckage of the helicopter were discovered near the island of Dent.

Iarles announced the temporary suspension of exercises and thanked the United States for support in search and rescue operations.

Joint exercises of the United States and Australia Talisman Saber are held once every two years. This year, more than 30 thousand military personnel from 13 countries take part in them.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken are also in Australia.
