Kazakhstan And Bulgaria Confirmed Intention To Develop Bilateral Cooperation

Kazakh President Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev and Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, as part of negotiations in an expanded format in Astana, discussed a wide range of bilateral issues.

According to the press service of Akorda on Monday, June 9, Tokaev emphasized that Ruman Radeva’s visit with a representative delegation opens up new prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The head of the Kazakh state noted a steady increase in trade and the existing potential for its increase.

According to statistics, in four months of this year, mutual trade exceeded $ 83 million, and in 2024 this figure increased four times, reaching $ 375 million, the press service notes.

“Kazakhstan is striving for further diversification of economic cooperation and implementation of joint investment projects in the fields of energy, agriculture, health and tourism,” said Kasim -Zhomart Tokaev.

The President supported interaction with Bulgarian companies and investors, emphasizing that the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation should play a key role in ensuring the success of this activity.

The President of Bulgaria expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized that his country has highly appreciated the opportunity to deepen partnership with Kazakhstan, opening new horizons for multifaceted cooperation.

“Bulgaria considers Kazakhstan as a key strategic partner in Central Asia. I am convinced that the key to success is interaction. In the future development of our relations, as well as contacts between the European Union and Kazakhstan, we must fully rely on the strategic location of our countries, which are key links in the connections between Asia and Europe, said Rumen Radaev.

During the negotiations, a wide range of issues of a bilateral agenda was discussed.

Confirming mutual interest in further strengthening the partnership and the implementation of new initiatives that contribute to the development of Kazakh-Bulgarian relations.

Upon completion of negotiations of the head of state, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev and President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, a ceremony of exchanging signed bilateral documents was held.

In particular, a memorandum of mutual understanding was signed between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria for the development of the Trans -Caspian International Transport Route; Memorandum of understanding between the city of Astana and the city of Sofia; A memorandum of the establishment of twinfetty relations between the city of Shymkent and the city of Plovdiv; Memorandum of mutual understanding between the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the diplomatic institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria; Memorandum of understanding between LLP “Foreign trade chamber of Kazakhstan” and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
