Kazakhstan And Oman Strengthen Investment Cooperation

Kazakhstan considers Oman as one of the important partners in the region. This was stated by the chairman of the Investment Committee of Kazakhstan Gabidulla Ospankulov in the Maskat (Sultanate Oman).

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the Maskat was held in the Kazakhstan delegation, within the framework of which meetings with key ministries and investment funds of Oman were held.

The Kazakhstan side at the negotiations was represented by the chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gabidulla Ospankulov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the NC JSC Kazakh Invest “Aibol Argynthgazinov, as well as representatives of the Mangistau and Utisysk regions.

As part of the visit, negotiations were held with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies, the Ministry of Economics, the Oman Investment Authorite Investment Fund, Invest Oman, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investments, the Oman Chamber of Commerce, as well as with a number of large companies in the country.

The delegation also visited the SEZ “Sohar” to get acquainted with its infrastructure capabilities and logistics potential.

The key issue of the agenda was the discussion of the preparation of the draft agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments between Kazakhstan and Oman.

Ospankulov noted that this agreement will ensure the strengthening of legal guarantees for investors, strengthen the protection of investment and will become the basis for the activation of bilateral economic ties. At the moment, about 70% of the text of the document has been agreed, the parties have confirmed the intention to accelerate the approval of the remaining provisions.

In addition to the legal framework, specific areas of cooperation were discussed.

Gabidulla Osankulov, summing up the results of the meetings, noted the strategic nature of the relationship between Kazakhstan and Oman and emphasized the importance of the transition to the practical implementation of joint initiatives.

“Kazakhstan considers Oman as one of the important partners in the region. Signing an agreement on the protection of investments and the launch of joint industrial projects will create a new impulse for bilateral relations. We are ready to provide comprehensive support to the Oman investors and actively attract Oman capital in the key sectors of the Kazakhstani economy,” he emphasized.
