Kazakhstan began to build new railway to China

In the Kazakh region, Abay began the construction of the new Bakhta -Ayagoz railway line with a length of 272 km. This was reported by the press service of the Kazakh prime minister.

The project is implemented as part of the execution of the order of the President of Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev to increase the transport potential of Kazakhstan. During the construction of the new line, it is planned to open the third border crossing with China Bakhta – Chuguchak.

In general, the Bakhta -Ayagoz line will increase the throughput between Kazakhstan and China from 28 to about 48 million tons, unload the southern checkpoints and attract additional transit volumes. It is planned that the two -way railway will be commissioned in 2027.

A large-scale project will be implemented with the participation of a private investor on the principles of public-private partnership (PPP). In the process of construction, 11 stations, 47 bridges, 23 railway and 8 roads, 5 pedestrian bridges, 16 viewing structures.

“Over the past five years, the volume of transit container transportation has increased by 3.2 times. The existing transit corridors are expanding and the transcaspey international transport route, North -South and Southern Corridors are expanding.” Smailov said.

The prime minister noted that last year, the volume of goods, which amounted to 245 billion tons/kilometer, was transported on the railways of Kazakhstan on the railways of Kazakhstan. According to Smailov, over 1300 km of railways will be built in the republic for only three years in the republic.
