Kazakhstan creates a fleet and a new port on Caspian Sea

“Kazakhstan plans to build its own ferry fleet of 10 vessels, as well as a new port on the Caspian Sea to increase export potential.” This was stated by the acting chairman of the Transport Committee under the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kasim Tlepov.

According to the official, in the current economic situation, the country needs to urgently increase transit capacity, as well as improve trading infrastructure.

He indicated that so far Kazakhstan has only four dry loads, and Azerbaijan is a leader in the field of cargo transportation in the region.

“Kazakhstan was never a naval country and therefore did not fully use the possibility of maritime transportation. Now is another time,” Tlepov explained, adding that the new cargo terminal will most likely be built in Aktau.
