Kazakhstan Has Banned Price Increases For Gasoline, Water, Electricity And Natural Gas

The government of Kazakhstan has decided to prohibit increases in prices for gasoline, water, electricity and natural gas until inflation rates in the country stabilize.

The statement of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reports that Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, in order to positively influence the level of well-being of citizens, at a meeting with members of the government and leaders government institutions and organizations made a five-point decision.

According to this decision, from October 16 of this year, until inflation indicators stabilize in the country, a ban on increasing prices for AI-92 gasoline and diesel fuel is introduced, and until the end of the first quarter of 2026, increasing tariffs for water, electricity and natural gas is prohibited.

In addition, there will be tax audits of small and medium-sized enterprises have been canceled, and low-interest lending programs for the purchase of new cars will not be terminated.

Along with this, mortgage lending programs at affordable prices will be encouraged, which will increase the affordability of housing for the population, and a special mortgage lending program for military personnel will be resumed, thanks to which 7 thousand military families will be able to purchase housing.

The National Bank of Kazakhstan (Central Bank) reported on October 10 that the country recorded an increase in inflation in all indicators; last month, inflation rose to 12.9%, and in connection with this, it was decided to increase the annual interest rate to 18%.​​​​​​
