Kazakhstan: knowledge of Kazakh language officials can become mandatory

The Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan proposed to consolidate the requirement for mandatory knowledge of the Kazakh language for government officials.

This is stated in the concept of the development of language policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan on 2023 – 2029, which was published by the Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the country.

The project was submitted for public discussion until April 25.

The document provides for the necessary changes to the current legislation so that the exam in the Kazakh language, which was previously not mandatory for public servants, is mandatory.
