Kenya: More Than 200 Citizens Of Country Are Participating In Hostilities In Ukraine On Side Of Russian Federation

Kenya announced the participation of more than 200 citizens of the country in hostilities in Ukraine on the side of Russia. This is stated in a statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, Musalia Wycliffe Mudavadi.

According to the report, the Kenyan government is receiving more and more reports of individuals who are being fraudulently lured into the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

“According to the report, more than 200 Kenyans have joined the ranks of the Russian army,” the minister claims.

Mudavadi noted that among these individuals are including former members of the Kenyan security forces.

Intelligence materials indicate an expansion of the Russian campaign to recruit foreign fighters, which includes African citizens, including Kenyans.

The Foreign Minister called the current situation “extremely alarming” and urged citizens to be wary of job offers abroad that seem too good to be true.

Last week, Kenyan President William Ruto spoke by phone with the Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky appealed to him with a request to release the country’s citizens detained in the combat zone.

In a message from the administration of the President of South Africa on November 6, it was reported that diplomatic work was being carried out to return to the country 17 South Africans who found themselves in the combat zone in the Donbass.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga said on November 7 that at least 1,400 citizens from 36 African countries are fighting on the side of Russia in Ukraine.
