Kremlin became interested in ideas of Kissinger

The Kremlin will get acquainted with the ideas of the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in Ukraine, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“Of course, the talent, experience and examination of Kissinger are always in demand. They are especially in demand in such acute situations. We will get acquainted with this material with great interest. So far, unfortunately, there was no possibility,” the Russian media quotes.

In his article for the British magazine The Spectator, Kissinger discusses the need to activate efforts on the negotiation process based on the already occurred “strategic changes”. According to his assessment, the line of ceasefire must be drawn along the borders until February 24, and Russia should withdraw its troops from occupied territories. If the parties are not able to agree on this, you can resort to referenda in annexed territories under international supervision, the former Secretary of State believes. At the same time, Crimea and Donbass should remain under the supervision of Russia, but may become the subject of negotiations after the ceasefire, and a peaceful settlement will lead to Ukraine’s entry into NATO, since “an alternative to neutrality no longer makes sense,” he said.
